Can anyone tell me which years and models of Chev./ GM trucks or vans a power steering box was mounted on the outside of the frame. Im getting conflicting information.

for trucks up to 1 ton , 1971 or 1972 was the first year that an integral power box was on the outside rail. Prior to that from 60 to 69 or 70 it has a manual box with a power assist ram. Prior to 55.2 to 59 was inside the rail and 47.2 to 55.1 was on top of the rail

My 69 had power steering and it did not have a power assist ram. Are you sure you aren't about a decade off on your years? I am asking because I do not know.
