They come up on Ebay pretty often- - - -usually the BIG ones that were used on heavy trucks. Be aware they use non-synchronized gearing, so shifting one on the fly can be a challenge. I learned to drive trucks on a B-73 Mack with a 5 X 3 transmission setup, and after a while I could run all 15 gears without using the clutch except to start and stop. If you're considering using a Brownie in a truck smaller than about a 2 ton, you'll have a big problem adapting the driveline yokes to the small U joints smaller trucks use- - - -custom made drivelines to both ends of the Brownie.

It sounds like you're on the right track. I've got a 1961 American LaFrance pumper with the 401 V6 and a 5 speed Clark with direct drive in 5th. I'm planning to remove the fire bed and the driveline-mounted pump and replace the pump with an under/direct/over Brownie. I'll have a good lowboy towing tractor that way, with a gooseneck trailer hitch incorporated just aft of the 5th. wheel.

I'm not sure I understand just what you are doing, but if you have a 9500 series with a 671 with a 5 and 2, you don't need any more gears. If it doesn't go fast enough, faster 2 speeds are hard to find. I would recommend going to a single speed axle out of a modern truck with a 10 speed transmission. You can then get the exact ratios you want. How fast are you planning on going. We used to gear Detroits to run the desired speed at 21 or 2200 and then set the governor at about 2400. Don't ever let it get below 1800.
