All was well until I started to put the generator on the 235. That’s when I found that the pulley on the generator is wider than the ones on the harmonic balancer and the water pump so the drive belt wont fit all three. I don’t want to change these as that will introduce more problems. So It would be nice if I could change the pulley size or something on the generator. The mount will have to be changed too I think. Most likely you have a 1953 or later 235 that have 3/8" grooves on pulleys?
The 1953-55st 6v generator pulleys were 3/8".
Those pulleys show up often on eBay. Maybe one would fit on your older generator (1939?)?

If so that would open up possibilities on pulleys.

Mounting your 39 generator on a 235 will most likely require mounting adaption, so belt lineup will be in the way you make the new mount.
Roy, I commonly use gen. pulleys on alternators.
