Need to sleeve and rebuild my 270 with 0.60 over pistons, OR need a block.

Please lemme know if you can help or point me in a direction [other than hell].

Thx! GiG Kurt

How many cylinders need to be sleeved? Other than being a little expensive, there's nothing wrong with a properly-installed sleeve. When I was building race engines as projects with my high school auto mechanics students, we sleeved several "worn out" Chevy 350 blocks that were given to me by race team owners. 8 sleeves later, we has standard-bore engines turning out 600+ HP on the dyno. Of course, I was using the blocks as teaching tools for my advanced-level engine machining students, so labor cost was not a factor.

Only one needs sleeved Jerry,

it's the high cost and low availability of parts here in Phoenix that has me in panic mode!

Sleeves are sold by cylinder diameter and length; they're not engine-specific. If you've got minor cylinder wall scoring to deal with, use the thinwall type (3/32" wall thickness) or if there's a hole in the cylinder, use the 1/8" thick heavy-wall sleeve. Give me a top-to-bottom length measurement of the cylinder, and I can research the proper part number sleeve for you.
Jerry

Edit:
Here are the Melling part numbers for the sleeves that fit a 270:

3/32" wall: CSL 146- - - $38.92 at Summit Racing with free shipping
1/8" wall: CSL 246- - - $40.92 at Summit

Good luck!
