Hi all,
I am working on my 53 Chevy Half Ton an need your help!
I am in the process of ugrading the front and rear suspension. Rear is almost done. I need measurements for the front to continue.

Can someone measure 3 points on their truck for me please?

I need the dimensions from inner fenderwell to inner fenderwell other side, and the inside edge to inside edge of fender for my front suspension clearance.
Also Can I get a length of front axle from wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface?

I need to know if I change the frame in front of the cab if it will be too wide for fenders. I am not subframing as such. I just need more room for the crossmember I have. (c4 Corvette K member)
Please advise If I am missing something or are otherwise a dumb***

Thanks
Ed

Hope I described this right.

I have a 50 chev spec sheet that I am sure is the same as your 53. The front wheel tread width is 56 9/16". That is basically from mounting surface to mounting surface. The dim. acrossthe front fenders is 72 5/8". You probably have to subtract at least 1/2" on each side to be inside the fender lip. I don't have the inside dim of the inner panel, but I will be out measuring some stuff maybe tomorrow, so I will try to get these dim. for you. I'm going through some of the same stuff, putting a 53 GMC chassis with a must 2 front and open driveshaft rear under my 50. Maybe you can help me. how much did you move the rear axle reaward to get it centered in the fenderwell? Or did you? Thanks. Roy

Truckeroy,
Thanks for the measurement!
That Helped alot.

I put my axle centerline (Rear) 37 inches from the center of rear most bed bolt hole on frame. It just measure my bed for a centered apearance. The 4- Link from the 'vette will not go back as the original torque tube rear did.

Most People move they axle 2 inches.
PS what rear are you using? I have a 96 Camaro posi w/ disc brake I wont be using.
Thanks Again, Ed

Looks like my front suspension will work!
THe rotor to rotor width is 59 1/2, less than 4 inches longer overall than original. With the right offset wheels, I should be right in there. Please correct me if I'm wrong as I am green to fabricating. grin

Thanks
Ed
