For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 126 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 126 | I am at the point where I am ready to remove the cab on my 42 truck. Any advise to make this go smooth and easy would be appreciated. What is the best way to strap the cab for removal. Can standard rafters support it? Is it to heavy to set on the ground... will this damage it? Thanks in advance. Chris

Me and my 16 year old son is doing a 45. He took off everything that can be removed including the rocker panels. I don't think the bare shell weighs more that 200 lbs. The two of us removed it by hand quite easily. But when we set it on the ground the bottom rear corners wanted to bend in. So, you definitly need to set it on some kind of dolly. Our pics are here if you want to check it out. john. http://photos.yahoo.com/my45chevy | | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 126 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 126 | steppenwood and Slow Rider. Thanks so much for your fast and very helpful advise. I surely would have screwed things up without that advise from both of you. I will post an update and let you guys know how it went. Chris
