The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Driveline power booster

I put on a CCP booster on my 54 3600 all drums.I have the vacuum split going to a pcv valve and the booster. All 3/8 inch hoses.It has twin connections at manifold. Is this enough vacuum for the booster? It seems to stop well at slower speeds but not as well as I like above 45. All new parts on the wheels hose and lines. Thanks for your help.

Hy Sharon Danella, the line to the booster should be a dedicated one and there should be a check valve somewhere in the line, most new systems have the check valve in the fitting that connects the vacuum line to the booster housing. What you may be experiencing at higher speeds is the brakes as efficient as they can be, try changing the line to a dedicated one and see if the braking improves, hope that helps.

I will try that tomorrow. Everything that I have seen has been dedicated. I will take out the pcv valve and run it normally and get back with the results. thanks

If your vacuum is below around 15", you have gone down the wrong path. Also if you have more than 2" of free trave in your pedal then that's a sure sign of not enough vacuum. You also need to measure your brake pedal ratio. Check on how to do this on one of the quality brake companies websites.
