It CAN'T be as bad as our current -17C (1.4F) with a windchill of -25C (-13F).

In my neighborhood we get freezes overnight but rarely does it stay below freezing during the day. There was an exception to that rule last December when we were iced in for nearly a week. We usually get at least one dip into the teens a year. Usually one or two snows a year.
Up in the Panhandle plains it gets considerably colder. And the Gulf coast considerably warmer.
It has been known to snow on the gulf though. One year my wife and I were pulling our travel trailer to Aransas Pass because a snow storm was headed our way and we didn't want any part of it. On the truck radio we heard it might get as far south as Aransas Pass. So we decided to go on to Port Isabel because we'd never been there. It is at the very south tip of Texas. It snowed there for the first time in over 100 years. And it happened on Christmas. Imagine grown people who had never experienced snow. The day my divorce was final the thermometer read -7F
Doesn't happen often, but by Texas standards that's getting pretty cool.

I've spoken to Texans visiting here, but never thought to ask about their climate because of my "assumptions".
Right now its so cold here that I saw a wannabe gangbanger with his pants pulled all the way up!

They are predicting a high of 39 for today and maybe mid 50s tomorrow. Then highs in the 40s for the next several days. I'm ready to head south. | | |
