Hi, I have a 1949 1/2 ton. It came with a 3 speed but the PO removed the column shift. I really want a floor shift so I found a sm 420 but the output shaft doesn't match up. I think it may have been off of a 1 ton. Does anyone have any ideas of how I can get this to hook up to the torque tube? Thanks, this Site is so helpful.

You need the rear cover/housing from an SM420 that was used with a torque-tube (1948-1954). It will replace the open-rear cover on later SM420s.

It does have the cover. I think I need the yoke that bolts to the universal joint and has the speedo drive gear.
