1953 3100 How is the drivers side defroster tube routed? Radio not installed or should it be before running tube? Heater is a deluxe fresh air style. TKS for any direction.

Install metal defroster fittings to the dash.

Install glovebox after heater is attached to the lower/inner cowl/side of cab. Then, install defroster tubes.

My guess is the radio could be installed before/after the tubes.

I usually have to detach part of the heater hose setup to get the radio in or out. I have the recirculating heater.

Thank you. Do you know what the clips (retainers) look like that attach the hose to the firewall?

I don't know that as mine aren't attached to the firewall.

If you are looking at the clips in Figure 100 at the link in my post above, I think those clips hold the electrical lead and the defroster cable.

I do not think they hold the defroster hose, but it looks like that might have been a possibility?

Maybe someone has/had a NOS set that had those clips in the set?

Defroster ducts go behind the radio, so you can remove and replace the radio without disturbing them. I have not seen evidence of duct clips in my '50 and '51. You don't really need them, anyway, as they are sort of crammed in there. You might have extra duct material if you buy new, but trim to length without extra hose/kinking or you won't have enough room for glovebox and radio.

Where I had the problem removing and installing the radio is getting it out the bottom. At some point it has to tip and in my case, removing the metal Y and pushing it aside solved the problem.
