Trying to get 733 in a base coat clear coat paint. Local body shop seems unable to find much. Any advice? BTW sorry if this has been posted to death.I'm new here and not sure where to start looking. nauta/Steve

the original formulas were for laq or old formula enamel, and it's too hard to translate them to more modern paints - you won't likely find any conversion references anywhere, tho some Dupont reps can help - check here - don't see a #733, but in my experience you need to take a sample of the original color and slog thru the paint chip catalogs at yer local paint supplier

Thanks Bill, Yeah I kind figured it would come to the paint chip samples. Always hard to imagine a whole truck from a 1 " square of color. I check out the site you suggested but nothing looked close. Next I'll go to dealerships and look at new stuff then try to find my color that way. Steve

The Chevrolet Truck Service web site has a scanned in copy of the paint codes for the 1956 Chevy truck as the site owner has/had a 1956 pickup. Here are your paint codes:

Combination Number Code: 733
Color: Empire Blue
Stock Code: 405
Duco Code: 246-50633
Dulux Code: 95-2528

With one or more of the above old codes, you should be able to have either Dupont or the PPG Color Library (Phone: 440-572-6100) give you the modern codes.
