It is the first year for the 235 full pressure engine. In 1953 it was only used with a Power Glide transmission.
The 848 head started later so it is a replacement.

I see it is "Blue Flame" blue. Any idea how many miles are on it? I have a 53/Powerglide 235 engine and it has all of the horsepower that I need for this truck.

I had a friend that lived out there and went by to see if it was what the guy said it was. Don't know any more about it other than that. Had it shipped to me.
Only truck that I have ever seen that has a spare tire and fender dent (?) on BOTH sides. Has a work bumper with trailer ball and can tell they carried a second battery under the seat. Had a spotlight and fog lights. It is now Tan and White, but can see where it was once Orange and Once Blue. May have been used on the roads or rails and needed 2 batteries and spares. AZ, long distance between towns?
Has great power.

It was used in a small trucks starting in 1960 (maybe late 1959). Almost all engines with a Powerglide transmission had hydraulic lifters. | | |
