Just got my 2ton Dump truck running today, drove it around a little. Nice milestone for me.

Posting this from our Firehall, so I thought it was appropriate. We used to have a early 40's GM fire apparatus, but now we run a freightliner.

I am the Chief of the local Rural Volunteer Fire Dept, which is ironically, SVFD.

In our case, it's Seldovia Volunteer Fire Dept.

Fire1 out.

Chief,

did Seldovia jump from the '40s GM to the freightliner? You guys on the "50-year replacement plan"? That's quite a jump.

Too bad the town couldn't keep the old one - after many many years they become valuable to people again. It's a weird cycle.

No, we had a weird 80's engine for a while... The old truck is still in town, a local bought it at the surplus auction. I'm trying to find/get some pictures of it.

Rumor has it there is one of our old CJ3A fire Jeeps around somewhere too. Old jeeps are my other weakness.

Wow . . . dressed to the nines!

Now you need to find a photo of that jeep! Jeep fire trucks have an obsessive following of their own! We have installed a Barton pump on a CJ5 to replace its original, and rebuilt the Barton on another, probably CJ3.

Fun stuff.
