Next week I'm bringing a 41 4 door deluxe sedan home all original great car everthing works the clock, radio and the vac wipers and best of all NO rust holes anywhere. My question is will a 235 out of a 54 chevy pickup take the bell housing and flywheel from the 41?I have a rebuilt 235 here and rather than rebuild the 216 thats in it I'd like to swap out the engines and keep the 216 for the future. It even has the vac shifting and that works.

Hy Pete52, as far as I know everything peculiar to the car from the 216 should swap over to the 54 truck engine.

You will need to get a water pump plate from Dave. You also may have to tweak the accelerator linkage.

The 1954 truck 235 block uses the same style/location water pump as was used in 1941 car/truck 216 engines. The pulley on the 1954 water would have a groove for a narrower fan belt than was used in 1941.

No water pump relocation plate is needed.

The 1941 clutch housing would need to be used, and you might as well use the 1941 clutch assembly and flywheel (but, the 1954 clutch assembly and flywheel could be used). The 1954 clutch housing will not bolt up correctly on a 1941 frame

My 1954 blocks have a threaded hole for the 1954 accelerator linkage bell-crank and a threaded hole in the location used for an earlier bell crank (I do not know if that second location is the same as used in 1941).

Thanks, this winter,in my new garage I'll swap them and keep the 216 until I get a chance to rebuild it and put it back in.
