ihave 4 orriginal split rims for my 48 ton (750/17 tires), but am about to give up on them. is there a 17 rim that will fit, or do i have to go to 16 inch. either way, what do i have to look for. my other ton had ford rims (16 inch) but were wide. help.

16x6 inch rims from 80s Fords and Dodge products can be used. Also trailer rims do a good job. There are many posts on the subject.

Hi Kent;
I saw on here someone mentioned removing the existing tubes and using new 16" tubes with your original 17" split rims then using modern 17" radials. I'm also finding it is difficult to locate a narrower wheel/tire with rim offset to clear the rear inner fender wall. I have tried using 16" wheels and tires off a 1992 Dodge 2500 that clear the front tie rod ends and rear inner fender wells but I don't really want to go the 16" route as my top speed will drop even more than it all ready is. All though I could just change to 4:11 gears but I would like to keep as original as possible.

If you can get some wheel spacers to move the wheel out about an inch you can use later model wheels without having clearance issues with the tie rods.

Here is a discussion about using trailer rims etc. trailer rims Here are links to where you can buy them. trailer wheel vendor Some members mount clips on these rims to mount original hubcaps. I used two low priced baby moons on the front and nothing on the rear.
