I'm currently working on my 52 6400 which was an old grain truck but I see there is some interest in old fire trucks on this site. The reason I'm posting this is I'm the city auditor for the City of Hansboro, ND. It isn't much of a town, we have about 6 people but still try to conduct business. Anyway the city owns a 1946 Chevy fire truck and is sitting in the old crumbling fire hall. The mayor and the other council member agree with me that we should try to sell this old truck before the old building falls on it. I have not been able to get in and examine it yet so no idea on the condition. It last ran in 2005 for our Centennial parade. I am trying to get the mayor to get permission from the county to drag it out and store it in a building the county has here in town where it will be protected until we can find a buyer. I'm wondering if there would be any interest on this site, obviously I will need to get pictures. The truck looked pretty good when I saw it in 2005, no idea how much it has deteriorated since. I know it has to be posted in the swap meet section and not here. Would appreciate any comments or thoughts on this. This truck should go to a collector who could appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Steve

Yes Steve, there is interest and welcome to the Stovebolt group.
PM me when you get pics and a price, then post for sale in the swap meet.
Hansboro is a pretty good distance for me, but if the condition and price is right, we may be able to work out a deal.

wow! 50% of the population politicians, that must be a record grin

yes, there'd be interest here and elsewhere in a '46 truck that likely doesn't have a lot of miles on it

Hey Don,

I will need to see it and discuss this some more with the council before we arrive at a possible price. Not sure what part of Missouri you live in but if it helps we are 240 miles NW of Fargo, ND. By the way I lived 5 1/2 years in St Louis back in the late 80s and early 90s.

I like the old Chevy trucks but have too many sitting around besides the old 2 ton out in my shop, plus I don't think it would be right for me to try to buy it, conflict of interest and all. Know it's hard to believe but we actually worry about stuff like that unlike many in DC.

I hope to get this out of the decaying fire hall and get some pictures before winter. Will let you know. Thanks for the response.

Bill,

Yep we have about half the population in city government, but unlike the ones in DC we get no pay and don't even steal. Hard to believe I know.

Exporting it would not be a problem, CBP on our side will need the title 72 hours prior to export. We are 4 miles from the port here. Thanks for the response, I will still need to get with the mayor and council on this before we come up with a price and list it.

Steve, I grew up in St.Louis and now live in mid Missouri. Sure was glad to get out of the city.
No hurry to buy anything, just make sure the city council wants to part with some of the towns history.
