Sent mine to a tank repair company in Kentucky. Cost about $300 - but gauranteed for life with any fuel. | | | | Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall | Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 | oldmemories, if you cannot source a new one why not use a tank sealer kit. There are a couple good ones out there. While nothing beats a new one I did the POR15 kit over 15 years ago with the tank in my '37 and it is doing fine. Takes a little time, better part of the day, but done right it will last. | | | | Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 237 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 237 | achipmunk thanks i didnt know they made that stuff, the tank is pretty cleaned from the inside but i will buy this por 15 and use a paintbrush i guess to brush it on unless you recommend something else? | | | | Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,440 Extreme Gabster | Extreme Gabster Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,440 | I used Red-Kote on my suburban. Four years and no problems. | | | | Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 6,383 Ex Hall Monitor | Ex Hall Monitor Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 6,383 | Ditto with Cletis, I used RedKote on my '38 almost 10 years ago & no leaks. I did have to braze the larger holes shut before lining. BTW the liner goes on the inside, a brush won't do you any good. If none of that sits with you, you might try these folks.

The cost when I had mine done was about $150, as I recall. | | | | Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 237 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 237 | thanks for all the replies. | | | | Joined: Feb 2000 Posts: 4,886 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2000 Posts: 4,886 | A low cab '36 might fit, the '37 tank fueled from inside the cab, and then you have the '38 tank. I believe that is all the tanks of this size, so it sounds like you all ready know what you have to do. I made a tank for my '37 that fit under the bed, but a good metal worker should be able to make something to fit under the seat. It may not look stock, but its a option.
