I joined a while back when I was looking at a 51' 1/2 ton that I decided was too far gone so I passed on it. Today I found a 1954 1 ton in much better shape. It has a 235 in good running condition and the cab is in very good condition. The bad is that the owner wants the front fenders and grill off of it. He said he has a 54 parts truck and the fenders on the truck he's fixin are decent. The grill on the parts truck could be saved with a little work. The truck has a 4 speed and no bed and 18" tires. Can I find 18" bias tires to fit these split rims? The condition of this truck is much better than the 1/2 ton I looked at before. | | | | Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 140 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 140 | I had a hard time finding 20" tires for a 30 Ford AA 1-1/2 ton I had at one time. Took me almost 8 months to find some good used ones. New ones were available but were going to cost me about $250 each with tubes and shipping. Not sure about 18" though. | | | | Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 1,186 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 1,186 | The tires are available. Make sure his parts truck is not a 1 1/2 or 2 ton as the front sheet metal is bigger and will not fit your 1 ton.

It's perfect all but the front grill hood and rt fender. He as another 54 1/2 ton with not perfect but decent repairable grill, hood and fenders that he will let me have with the 1 ton. It seems a shame to take the parts off the 1 ton to fix the 1/2 ton but that 1/2 ton is a low mileage no rust very nice truck. The grill that I would be getting has been cut on the inside like they needed to move the radiator forewards for some reason. It can be fixed but if I get the truck I may look for a better grill and hood. Does the hood need to be a 54? | | | | Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 1,186 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 1,186 | Best I know, any AD hood will work as long as it's a 1/2 to 1 ton. The only possible issue would be the hood side emblem holes.
