I have a 37 GMS 1/2 ton. Just recently put it on the road after a frame off garage restoration. All original. I appear to have a bad throw out bearing. The grease cap is shaking even a idle. I can't locate a new bearing. The alternative is to update to a 38 setup. It appears I will need to change the clutch petal, fork, pressure plate and maybe clutch plate to convert. Not sure if the updated fork will fit in my bell housing. Anybody have any knowledge on this?

much trouble.

If a 1937 GMC uses the same setup as Chev, and I think they do, it will use a carbon throwout bearing.
A carbon bearing can wear the carbon out but if you are experiencing shaking I would suspect some other problem like a broken retracting spring on one of the pressure plate levers.
The bellhousing pivot position for the clutch fork changed in 1938, so if you are changing the whole assembly over to a 1938 design the bellhousing would also need changing.
There is a ball bearing conversion for just the carbon throwout bearing. Gary Wallace and others sell this conversion.

I also have a 1937 T-14 with the stock engine and bell housing. When I did my clutch we just used a standard next generation cluthfork. The same one they used from 1939 to 1950 and on. I also just used a regular size throwout bearing. Standard three fork pressure plate. So far I have over 6000 miles on it this way.
