On my 61 Apache, are there suppose to be two turn signal indicator lights, one on the right side and one on the left side of the instrument cluster? Right now if I turn on the head lights or parking lights there is a round green light directly above the ignition key that lights up. This looks like it might be an indicator light but it does nothing when the turn signals are activated.

I believe in 1961 there was only one turn signal light in dash.

I removed the instrument cluster. There is no bulb/socket in the left turn signal spot. The bulb/socket that is in the right turn signal spot has a single wire that looks original, and it runs all the way down to the fuse panel next to the panel lights fuse. Is it possible that this truck did not come with turn signals, therefore they just put another panel light in where the turn signal indicator would be on the right side?

The web says the panel did have a spot for a turn signal on both sides but only one side was used on early years 60-62? The same light flashes for left and right turns. Some people report lights on both sides in 61. Either factory added or panel was changed to newer when repaired. First thing to check is the flasher.

bartamos, the flasher is working as I just added an after market turn signal switch. I am thinking of tapping into that switch's wires and have indicator lights on the dash on both sides.

Stick the good socket in the other side just to be sure you can see the blink OK and it fits and all that good stuff. Does the dash have any other lights besides gauge lights? Idiot lights or tell tale? I believe the bow tie lights up for high beam.

The dash does have other lights that are working correctly.
