For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: May 2014 Posts: 92 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: May 2014 Posts: 92 | I decided to rebuild the stock front brakes instead of doing a disk kit. I'm replacing the front drums in the process. Is it really necessary to rivet the drums back to the hub? I don't see where it could possibly go.... Is there something I'm missing? I was hoping that would be the case. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 | I could be wrong but I think the factory was thinking about safety as much as assembly line ease. They even put screws to hold the rear drums on and later clips on the rear axle wheel studs to keep the rear drums from coming off in case a wheel came loose. That said, I do not re-rivet them.
