I'm doing my first restoration on my '56 Chevy Pickup and need help with paint code:725. I bought it less engine & Trans.
Also VIN: V3A56K018509, what engine and trans did it come with? It was a manual (should be 4-speed)by trans.cover. 15" wheels. Stepside. Please Help!

can't help w/ the paint code, but the color of the firewall will be it unless it's had a super complete repaint - there\'s paint chips here and some more here [57] that'll give you an idea

the V on the vin indicates it had the 265 V8 [only V8 in 56, modified to the 283 in 57] and standard trans would have been a 4spd, tho the 3spd was an option [neither indicated in vin], and the floor pan doesn't necessarily have to be original - if it has any of the column shift stuff [holes up where the shift lever mounts, shift box towards the bottom of the column, used lookin hole in the column-floor seal] there was a 3spd in it

The search page on http://www.paintscratch.com/search.htm is nice. My truck has paint code 731K on the door post tag, and I have had problems figuring out what color this was - until I read this post, clicked through to paintscratch's site on a whim, and found their search feature, which I'd missed before. It turns out Galway Green had two paint codes, and most places, including paintscratch's calendar year listing for 1959, list only the other one.

That said, it came up dry looking for 725 (perhaps their data only goes back to 1957 too).

Thanks all. I've tried those sights and no luck. One says that it was a '61 color, another says the 7 is red but not the 25. One site starts at '57. Anyone that can find out and let me know, please do so. I know its between and Orange and a Red. Thanks.
