Apologies if I'm just half asleep and missing the obvious answer- a few weeks back I could have sworn there was a post at top of the panels/burbs forum with a General FAQ on suburbans. Great list of facts- what parts were same as trucks, which parts unique to burbs, chevy vs gmc, which parts are made new, reproduced, used only, etc., what to look for/watch out for, etc

Anybody know what I'm talking about? Remember the post? After a fruitless 90 minutes so far I'm giving up the search before I go cross eyed and pass out. Any help greatly appreciated.

The answers would take pages especially when you don't say what era.

Good question, to be honest I don't recall but it seemed to be most relevant to 47-54 series. Maybe that's just what I paid attention to as it's what I am looking for

never seen such a post here, particularly as the primary difference between the panels/burbs is the back end, so nearly everything forward is the same as the conventional cabs, and nearly everything specific to burbs isn't reproduced

You might as well ask about where to find specific parts. A few of the Suburban-specific parts are reproduced. Most parts will have to be found on eBay or by posting Parts Wanted Ads in the Swap Meet.

The conventional-cab vs Suburban-cab differences would be in the floor-seat platform and the front seats and rearwards from the front seats.

I think that GMONIZ posted a good list of things to look for when buying a Suburban - it states which parts are Suburban specific. It might state where to find parts. Maybe GMONIZ or someone will post a link to that thread? It could be made a "stickie" at the top of the forum.

YESSSS!!!! thank you clederman!

thats exactly what i was looking for, i forgot it was posted as a "buying guide" as opposed to just a regular FAQ. would have never remembered that on my own.

and as it turns out, gmoniz seems to be right here in the SF bay area- i'll send him a pm, he might end up being a good resource.

thanks
