I was wondering if 55-59 LCF trucks were produced as a crewcab, either by the factory or coachbuilders back in the day,if anyone has pictures, post a link please.

I know this is an old post but I just looked at 58 LCF crew cab today. It is a 3 door cab, 1 drivers and 2 passenger doors. I am not sure if factory or aftermarket. I am trying to figure out what it is worth. I am working the deal on it and will post pics when I get a few good pics of it.

If possible, post the Vehicle ID code, if there is one on it.

Most likely a crew cab was a non-GM conversion done by another company (as was the case for Advance-Design COE crew-cabs).

I will look for the tag when I go back. It has the complete front clip and seats and has a spotlight. I will look for other extras as well.

I was a crew chief on a racing team that had one almost identical to that, made into a hauler for the race car. It had been bought surplus from the state of California, supposedly used as a support vehicle for highway maintenance crews. Various coach builders custom-made those rigs under contract to state highway departments, utility companies, and railroads. The yellow paint on that one suggests it was probably a public works vehicle or something similar at one time.

Here is a 54/55 conversion/specialty crew cab - some people have posted they have seen them in oil-field locations.

Rear door looks like a T.F. Panel's "Barn-door",rather than a custom-built "cab" style. Passenger door is narrower, saving about 3", in overall cab length. Rear passengers, over 5'7", would need to sit sideways, for the lack of legroom. I think I like Shane's,BETTER!!

no cigar Willy, the barn doors don't have that feature line molding, barn door hinge sides are slightly slanted, handle sides are very straight, and the windows are much shorter wink much closer to a conventional cab door cut off at the division bar

No problem. I wish this site would let us post actual pics instead of just links to them.

That is really neat! Looks like it came from the factory. Wish my 57 GMC LCF had that.
They explain why you have to link your pics. It has to do with cost to keep this site going and the bandwidth or something.
Check out the "posting pictures" section.

Hey,Old GMC Gold..YOUR truck is COOL,just the way it came from the factory!! I like "Buggy 5872's" (Shane's)"Crew-Cab" better,(talking about this post),but it would take 2 L.C.F. cabs/doors and a T.F. panel truck roof, and a lot of measuring and patience, and time and money and a Good Understanding Wife! I can't believe he did it in such a short period of time! I.M.H.O.,one of the COOLEST trucks in the "Gallery"!!

Thanks Willy. I have tried to keep everything as original as possible. Of course it would never stand a "picking over" at one of the big shows. My goal is just have it the way it came out and look clean, and use it.
I am still a long ways to the end, but slowly making progress.

That is an interesting one. I would say it was coach built. Is the front clip with it? I would jump on that in a second. The cab might be a little small inside judging by the size of the back door but it is hard to tell from the picture. From My research, there is only 1 LCF crew cab made by GM. It was a 1956 GMC. I talked to the owner when he was selling it and he had documentation form GM. It was made for the District of Columbia public libray and had a moble library trialer that GM also made. It was a 3 door.
Here are the pics of it
