I bled all the brakes and adjusted all the brakes till they started to grab a little. (I already dismantled the brakes and freed up the rusted adjusters and lubed the backing plates.)When I apply the brakes the right rear tire skids. When I spin the wheels when they are off the ground they all seem to have equal grab. Any suggestions?

and please keep a single question to one, most appropriate forum

I have been posting in multiple forums as I am unsure which one is more appropriate and figured more exposure is better than minimal in the wrong forum. | | | | Joined: Aug 2013 Posts: 568 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2013 Posts: 568 | Check the wheel cylinder.
I can explain it to you, I can't understand it for you.

I bled the rears again, sanded the shoes and drum. I have the steering column apart right now so I can not take it for a ride yet. I will keep you posted. | | | | Joined: Jul 2008 Posts: 413 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2008 Posts: 413 | Sounds like the brake cable on that side is slightly pulled forward & is stuck & not releasing all the way.
Ive seen this happen dozens of times. Im assuming this does have rear brake cables. | | | | Joined: Aug 2014 Posts: 52 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Aug 2014 Posts: 52 | Jeff, I have no parking brake so no cable to the rear shoes. Thanks anyways | | | | Joined: Jan 2007 Posts: 30 New Guy | New Guy Joined: Jan 2007 Posts: 30 | My 61 had this with the left rear brake. It turned out that the newish brake cylinder was rusted inside and therefore the cups did not re track as fast as the other 3 cylinders, causing this one to drag. Dismantled the cylinder and with very fine sanding paper and brake oil cleaned it up. Now perfect. If the truck is not driven a lot like mine, this seems to be a problem. So...the solution is to drive it more! | | |
