OK all you bolters. Doing a 283/th350 swap in my 49 Chevy sub. After removing the body and the 216 and 4 speed I need some major advice. I want to run dual exhaust but it appears that the gas tank which is mounted on the inside of the right frame rail is right smack in the way of the right muffler/tailpipe.Is there a way to relocate the gas tank or reroute the tailpipe? Is there a rear frame mounted gas tank that anyone sells that could be installed? What to do? Anyone out there done this swap and could offer advice? Looking for some words of wisdom from some low number bolters or high number bolters for that matter or anyone who has faced this problem and solved it.

a guy I know faced the same problem w/ a panel truck, and ended up routing the pass side pipe outside of the frame where there's just enuff room for the muffler about at the back of the pass seat

Thanks Squeeze. I'll have to look this over and see about where the pipe would exit the frame. The muffler would probably end up under the running board. Should be room.

89 Cutlass, thanks for the pictures of the Willis 51 sub. I printed them. Willis has a bunch of good ideas that bear looking at.
