on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Aug 2014 Posts: 30 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Aug 2014 Posts: 30 | I am trying to find out the original part that was used to hold the tailgate open on my 1958 Chevy Apache Suburban. It is the lift-and-tailgate "Clam shell" type. Was it a cable or chain? A little researched found that it could have been a "tape measure" style retractable cable/mechanism. I am looking into purchasing what is closest to the original but durable enough for modern day use. I am sure this question has been asked before so forgive my ignorance. I am looking forward to being educated by all you experts. Thanks again! | | |
