Hi, I am looking for the original grill fasteners and clips for my 1954 Chevy truck. Have ordered them as advertised in there catalog from 2 suppliers but get nuts and bolt set, which are very hard to use. Who sells the real thing? Dutch

I bought the 54 grill fastener kit from Chevy Duty that included the threaded hardware and the rivets. It went together just fine but you have to take your time dismantling or you can drill out the original rivets using too large a bit and be left with an additional challenge.

I just reassembled my 1st series grille (same as yours). I needed to disassemble in order to repair and paint. I assembled with big pop rivets (washers on the backside) and this worked well. My local Ace hardware store has a fantastic supply of nuts/bolts/hardware, including the "speed nuts" used to fasten the grille to the fenders. Also bought a box of 1/4" by 1" lag screws for a few bucks. These work as well as the stock lag bolts but don't look exactly the same.

Maybe you guys can help me get my grill off! I found about five screws across the bottom splash? pan, three bolts holding the vertical supports on, two screws through the top (one on each side), and four bolts on each side vertically, going through the fenders. What am I missing?

There are two more screws on the top that I can think of. The top of each fender has two screws.
Edit: oops, that's on a '50. But check anyway, they are hard to find.
