Any one have a pic of dual seats instead of the bench seats in a COE?
Im interested in seeing if the shifter directly comes out of the trans

'47-'55.1 Chevy COE's have the same bench seat as the conventional cab big trucks and the pickups. They use a linkage system, that attaches to a shfter mounted to the center engine cover. '47-'55.1 GMC COE's have a full seat back cushion,but have separate driver,& passenger cushions,with the shifter coming straight out of the tranny, up between the seats.I'll send you a picture of my GMC COE seats tomorrow.

I have seen buckets in a 53 GMC COE. If my memory serves me correct, the shifter linkage to the tranny was the same as with the bench seat. I remember because I tried to talk the guy out of the buckets, thinking they would bolt right into my truck.

My 1954/55 GMC 350 COE has original seats and shifter as described by Spanky:

". . . a full seat back cushion, but have separate driver, & passenger cushions, with the shifter coming straight out of the tranny, up between the seats."

No bucket seats, and no shifter linkage, just a single-piece shifter handle.

Now the task of finding one if I go that route. If one would want to put in maybe a more modern day bucket seat set up, does the seat frame welded to the floor have to come out? Is the seat frame welded to the floor serve any body/floor structure purpose?
