Folks would any of you know what type of spark plugs i need to put in a 1965 GMC V6? I think it is a 305. The guys at my local parts tells me that no such v6 exist in 1965. I am looking for them in an AC or Champion. The ones we have it in now seem week. I am thinking they are not the right ones. I think this thing could use some timing curves as well. I may try that next.

All the old guys that knew anything at the parts store have died and only the pimple faced ones are left. It if is not in the computer GMC did not make it.

I remember when you could go to Napa and tell an old feller you need a set of brushing for a starter and he would walk into a huge stack of parts and pick up exactly what you need with out ever having to look at a book or computer.

The only reference I have handy is for a 1974 305 V-6, and it lists an AC CR44NS, with a .035" gap. I have other info, but it's 80 miles away at another shop. Run that number and see if it's still available.
Jerry

Edit:
The 1974 379 V6 runs an AC R43T

AC Delco has discontinued many of the plugs in their line, probably due to lack of requirements.
I have not been able to find AC 45S' in a regular parts store for several years and it was one of the most common plugs for a variety of engines. However, you might try to cross the AC number to Autolite as they still make plugs for older engines. I have used them for some time and have not had any complaints. Auto Zone & Napa have them. I've got the manual for 65 at home, I'll check it tonight and let you know what it lists for spark plugs tomorrow.

According to the 1965 GMC Maintenance Manual (X-6523), The 305E and 305C both use the AC C44NS plug with a 0.035" gap. The 351, 401 and 478 share the C42N plug with a 0.030" gap.
