Do they work good and are they worth it? I didn't like the looks and feared they would add another rattle (not that another one would be noticed) so I made my own out of a piece of scrap steel rod, scrap sheet metal bracket, couple bolts, and faucet washer for a bumper. Flanged "C" of course mounted on the grille support Rods.
Arms were 1/4 x 5/8ths White Oak with padded ends...Arms also had a small thin strap Steel Hook toward their top, to hook over the Grille support Rod, when at rest.
I did those in 1977 and they worked perfectly and held up fine for the next 23 years of daily use. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 1,554 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 1,554 | I wish you had a picture, but I guess that is not possible. 1941 Chevy"First rebuild - complete!"Follow the story in the DITY1941 GMC resting peacefully 1946/1947 Chevy Street rod on s10 frame complete 1945 GMC panel truck in line for restoration 1941 Plymouth stock complete 1941 GMC COE in restoration processRead his Project Journal1941 Chevy Coe uncertain future resting now

They only really allow you to have your hood partly open (I use it to support the hinge between the hood side and hood top), but they work great. Being that mine is a GMC and my support rod is bigger I had to drill out the holes larger, but other than that they're worth every penny. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 1,554 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 1,554 | 1941 Chevy"First rebuild - complete!"Follow the story in the DITY1941 GMC resting peacefully 1946/1947 Chevy Street rod on s10 frame complete 1945 GMC panel truck in line for restoration 1941 Plymouth stock complete 1941 GMC COE in restoration processRead his Project Journal1941 Chevy Coe uncertain future resting now
