Any ideas/advice on what kind of spray paint to use for minor parts such as inner fender brackets and etc. I've used some brands from autozone and other discount stores, but they seem to contain more thinner than paint. I'm looking for the most durable spray paint I can get.

thanks,
Shawn

You might want to look at Eastwood. They have a frame paint in the rattle can that is much heavier than the stuff at autozone or other discount stores. Cecil........

Are there any brands/types of spray paint you would recommend that can be purchased at retail stores like Ace Hardware or NAPA?

just avoid the cheapest or lacquer, and make sure you shake the heck outta the can b4 you start - tremclad works well [they have that brand down there?]

Does anyone have an opinion regarding rustoleum? Any advice about painting over POR 15?

I use Kry-lon semi flat black on all chassis & inner fenders. It has just the right texture for detailing parts like this. I like Ace premium enamal for gloss colors. Rustoleum rusty metal primer is great over ruted areas. It can be topped coated as soon as it flasses over or the next day. There color paints dry way to slow.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

Believe it or not, I've used "appliance" enamel I buy at Lowe's. I've done the whole front axle & brake hrdwr. assy. I've only found it in black, or white though. Spray 2 or 3 coats within 30 min. of each coat. Then let dry for a week. Unless you can bake it somehow. I think you'll be pleased.

I've used rattle cans from Home Depot from Rustoleum that are "industrial hardness". They are generally taller cans and basic colors. They have a yellow hard hat as a logo. There's even a cold galvanizing compound. $6 a can.

There should be many good threads in the archives on this topic going back several years.
