One little problem...the screen on the oil pump has a few holes. Not huge, just the little squares turning into little rectangles. And just a few of them.

Maybe right through the pump and into the bearings? I'd suggest fabricating a new strainer screen of some type. I've had pretty good luck using pierced sheet metal that's available on Ebay with small round holes, maybe 1/16" diameter or so, and forming/silver soldering it into a strainer.

It was a running engine that was pulled out of the truck and still warm when I hauled it home, but I know it will work harder than it has in a long time when I get it in my truck so I want to do this right.
