anyone using molasses to remove rust ???
i am having trouble finding sulfured molasses.
which you are supposed to use.
the feed store in anchorage has the molasses
and the sulfer seperate.
can i add the sulfer myself ??at what ratio ??
to make sulfered molasses.

I just bought a bag of molasses flakes from the county feed store, it was like $17 for a big old bag. Worked fine. I guess it was a 50 pound sack or so, and I just topped up the rubbermaid garbage can w/water. In fact you just reminded me I forgot and left something in it for about 8-9 months now I'll have to get that out this weekend.

is the bag stuff sulphated ??
i can 50 lb bag for 42.00
or 5 gal for 50.00.
but not sulphated i was wondering if can buy the sulphate
and add they have it 33.00 50 lb thanks

way cheaper, as well as much less smelly and messy to use electrolysis - only thing you need to buy is some inexpensive washing soda at a supermarket

thanks red58 talked me into it i think i will go ahead and do the electrolysis method. been reading up online about it.
i have a gas tank i will try first.been empty for years.
rusty inside.i am sure i can find some more rusty parts!

there's also a write up in our tech tips if you haven't seen that - other than mechanical means [grinding/sanding] I use electrolysis exclusively, works great

I used the electrolyis for a 16in wheel. Worked fantastically! Definitely plan to use that method for a few more things (headlight buckets are next to go in)
