Whats the best way to clear my oil lines since the block is pretty much clear? My crankshaft is still in, so if I used compressed air won't I be trapping all the oil gunk there? Everything else is out..pistons, head, etc.

take the crankshaft out, and take out the oil gallery plugs. Use long rifle type brushes (harbor freight has a good assortment) in a drill, and solvent. You can't get it too clean. However I don't really know what you are trying to accomplish, taking it that far down and not going the rest of the way doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

ok. thanks.

all that i need to do to take out the crankshaft is unbolt those bolts holding it down, correct?

Does the timing gear come out with it? Is there anything special to putting the crankshaft back in?

I was originally working on compression issues, which lead to pulling pistons to redo rings. That is how I got to this point, but since Im here it seems to make sense to clear out oil lines...

Yes. Mark the main bearing caps if you need to. Pull the bolts and if there are shims, make certain they go back in the same places they came from. You got this far the rest is straight forward. Good time to replace the rear main seal and measure the main bearings and crank. Putting it back in requires some muscle and a soft touch. But you can do it. Crank is heavy so get help if needed.

When you put the crank back in make sure the timing marks are aligned properly.

Doesn't the front plate under the timing gears have to be removed before the crank will come out?

As usual Jerry is correct. The front plate will have to come off. As well as the timing gear.
