On a later (60/61) 235, if I want to run a line from the oil gallery (the back of the black where the oil pressure gauge connects) to the hole in the middle of the engine right below the valve cover (a common mod I've heard to assure good oil to the top no matter what), what T fitting do I need to get?

Anyone familiar with this mod who can tell me more?

A compression fitting for the size oil line you have. I don't remember if it's 3/16 or 1/8 inch.

And I have no oil lines so I don't know what size it should be.

I am familiar with this "mod"/cob, and the the parts that are usually needed are shown here.

You could take your oil-pressure fitting from the block and your pipe-plug-fitting from the head to NAPA/etc and see if they can match up the needed fittings with the length of 1/8" line that you would need.

If you do not mind my asking, why do you need this? If you are not getting oil to the rocker arms, have you checked/cleaned the rocker arm assembly, to make sure it is not plugged up?

I'm asking because I keep hearing about it and seeing it in pics and have been told by more than a few people now that it's a useful mod for keeping the top well oiled under all conditions.

That might not be true but I really wanted to know.

Run your engine with the valve cover off. If oil is coming out any part of the rocker arm assembly, you are getting enough oil. If oil is not coming out at each rocker arm, you might want to clean out the rocker arm assembly.

That "adaptation" is a sign/"solution" of an oil flow/circulation problem. There is no need for that line if oil is reaching the rocker arms.
