Got the windows in. the window guides channels etc...My only issue is that with all the new channels felt etc....the windows are tight tight tight !! no way these windows will roll up and down. I took the windows and slide them up and down numerous times until they got somewhat easier.They are still stiff. Any ideas ? also I still need to set the windows.So how does this taping thing work? you put the tape in the channel along the window and when it is set you pour solvent/ gas on it and let it set ???

use gasoline to remove old glass

use light oil to "set" new glass

Give the setting tape several days to really lock the glass in tight. After 24 hours, you can handle the parts, but it takes days to really lock in. With the proper thickness setting tape, you should be able to easily mate the glass to the channel. Only slight tapping with a rubber mallet is necessary. If too difficult then the setting tape is too thick. The tape the common vendors sell is much too thick for any part of the truck.

I cant really remember, but I believe I used 1/32" thick tape for both door glass and vent windows. Went together easily and locked tight after several days.

If you are referring to the fit in the run channel, thats because the glass used today is thicker than that 30 years ago. The best thing I've found is WD 40 or a good silicone spray. Spray channel and run window up and down to work in and wear run channel in. Also, be sure the front, back and top of the glass is seamed good. You need a rounded edge (look at the glass in a newer car/truck). You can use 80-120 wet or dry to hand sand if necessary to relieve these edges. Be careful not to sand the outside of the glass where it will show! John
