I have a 55 second series with an after market (Saginaw) power steering pump. I purchased a new pump from a local parts store and it leaked like mad. I received a replacement from the parts store and it is not working all the time as well as the bearing sounds like it is going out. The application in my 55 is difficult and takes a lot of time to get the pump in place. I'm looking at "on like parts stores" and find the pump at a price of around $160.00 and I just can't see puting that kind of money in a new pump. Any ideas out there?

you gonna throw away the pump you've already paid for and buy again from someone else not local? if the replacement is bad too, take'er back again, eventually they'll get it right .... sometimes maintaining old vehicles is very frustrating, especially modified ones

A-1 Cardone Part # 29840 without reservoir can $26.99 plus core
A-1 Cardone Part # 206803 with reservoir can $30.79 plus core
I sure wouldn't deal with stores that charge $160 for one.
Since you didn't give the year of your engine I just picked a 1975 Chevy C10 pickup. The Saginaw pumps of that era will all be close in price. I think the original 55 pump was on the back of the generator.
