Hi, I was wondering, is $250.00 plus shipping too much for an original straight grill with no rot or rust through? I'm not too sure on prices.

sounds fair to me, compare the price of a new repro [if you can find a vendor that actually has any] and consider what chroming would cost, if you need chrome

Just for comparison, these have sold on ebay for many multiples of the this price, just this past 6 or so months. Those sold were NOS or restored and some were reproduction. Others here, recently, have reported being really disappointed with the reproduction pieces. If you decide to pass on that one, PM me and I'll buy it.

The thing is if you want to rechrome it you will be near 1000 for the upper and lower. Also get a good close look at rust and pitting. Too pitted and can,t be rechromed. I think I recall jim carters now has repos for sale. There are also the trim pieces. Some come with them some don,t.

The good thing about mine it it's a 1942 built in Jan of 42. It's grill was painted not chromed. Lucky me. There are still traces of the paint on it's current grill but it's banged up and broken pretty bad. Beyond fixing. Thanks for the input guys!

Grab it before it's gone. There were problems with the repro's and no one carries them. I've seen the chrome go for over $1600 on sleezebay.
