Sooooooo, I guess nobody liked my other question about two tone paint job masking enough to answer it.....come on, guys, I know somebody out there has done a two-tone on a Task Force....help a brother out!

But anyhoo,
Now I have another question. Where is the border between colors on the back of the cab? the obvious line disappears when it reaches the back, and I can't envision where to paint what.....
Also, what goes around the rear small window: bottom ivory, or top color?
Does anybody have any pictures they could post on the back of their cab with two-tone paint, original or custom? I could use some ideas.
I decided on a dark green on top and a slightly-creamier-than-ivory-light mesa brown on the bottom.

vt - here\'s my 2 tone , which is proper factory pattern for a fleetside - the bit at the back of the cab is a puzzle, but what I did was follow around the top edge of the depressed part and it looks fine - can't see it w/ the box on anyway!

missed the other post, but now see - don't bother masking for first color, that way there's no prob w/ missin a bit - mask for 2nd color - I think every pic I've ever seen of factory paint, had body color around back windo up to door window, w/ that color around the window - don't have better pics handy, but could take a couple if ya want

Like squeeze said there is no reason to mask for your first color just make sure you apply enough paint at least 4 " past your breakup line this makes sure you have good coverage at the break, also if your going to use any metallic paint apply some color blender clear on top so if there is some bleeding from the other color you can simply clean it off with some pre cleaner, I'd also recommend using 3m's blue 1/4 " plastic tape for your breakup line its a little pricey but worth it.

You can do two tone three ways but I only recommend two of them. The first is a BC "base clear" you simply paint the first color about 4-6" past the area that you want your line. than tape your line spray the next coulour. pull your tape when the paint is still a little tacky so that the you dont have a really hard line than clear the hole truck.

The second is with single stage. you want to work from the bottom up. set your line for the lower colour spray it. will the paint is still a little tacky tape the lower line. use some fine line tape on the lower line put it right on the edge of the first paint colour. now spray the upper colour no as soon as your down spraying the second colour pull the fine line tape so that the upper paint will just slowly run and fill in that line. and fill in so you dont have a hard edge.

When the paint has cured enough to wet sand wet sand the line this should give you a nice line without any knowticable hump between the two paints.

The third way is basically like the first but you have to back mast and there is a lot of wet sanding to get the over spray off.
