I know the drive line is not 1948. I think its from a 1956. So is this the crossmember that gets in the way?

I want to replace the master cylinder, and add a power booster. and KEEP my DRUMS all around.

It looks to me like there's gobs of room under there, but I've read that some trucks might need to modify the transmission crossmember.

This crossmember is at the bellhousing. So am I good to go? Or am I making a big mess?

last weekend i installed a booster in my 49 3100. like you i have no transmission crossmember, only an engine rear crossmember as shown in your pics.

so yes booster will slot right in no problems.

i was very pleased with how easy it was to fit.

just unbolt the two bolts on the old master and bolt in the new one on same bolt holes then connect to stock pedal inkage. done, in about 20mins. (age correct kit from performance online)

id read stories that stock clutch pedal couldnt be used etc and that id have to drill additional mount holes etc but on my truck wasnt necessary and was no problem at all. plenty of clearance.

i suspect your truck like mine had the transmission crossmember removed when they changed out the torque tube as thats what its usually connected to/with.
