Hello.

Are all the valve springs on a 216 supposed to be facing the same way? In other words, should the part of the spring where there are more coils be at the bottom or the top, or does it matter?
As I was taking apart the head for a valve job, I noticed several of the valves have the springs down, while others are with the coiled part up....?
I heard somewhere it does matter, that is why I ask.
They fit both ways.

On a low RPM engine it probably doesn't make much difference, but I would put the end with "less" coils up, since the top coils do more moving.

manual say place springs with closed coils toward cylinder head......
