I FINALLY got "'Tater" up and running,after a week of intermittent frustration! when I'd get frustrated with the timing issue,I worked on mounting the "courtesy light" door jamb buttons,(in the A.A.W. harness kit),and relocated them to a more useful position in my under-bed storage/tool boxes.If you can't accomplish one thing,find another project,right? )I reversed the light mounts,and made a swivel bracket,so I can shed light right where I need it)! Well,I tore the carburetor down,and found that the tab on the float was bent to the point that the bowl was flooded with fuel!! I have No idea how this could have happened,since i rebuilt it myself,about a year ago. It's been driven less than 500 miles since that time! I adjusted the float,lubed the choke cable,and VOILA!! one stomp,and purrr!!! I just tuned it "by ear",for now,(getting late,no garage),and took it for a "spin"! ,(I just had to see if I had those new halogen headlights adjusted right)the truck seems to have more get-up with the H.E.I. and alternator up-grade!! I got a bunch of "thumbs-up,and that REALLY made my day!! Now to check the fuel mileage! Thanks to all who posted your helpful suggestions!!

Thanks!! It's always been a real thrill,to drive "'Tater",but its even better with the up graded wiring harness! They say it takes 3 week-ends. Maybe,if you like a ratty-looking job,but it takes a lot longer,if you do it right,solder ALL connections,shrink-tube,and "loom" everything. The finished product just looks better,and it gives the wires more protection. This may be the wrong area to post this,but I DID have problems with the carburetor,which caused me to believe the problem was with the timing. How much more do you have to do to get yours up and running? Mine just gets driven around the block,until the brakes are rebuilt/replaced. THANKS,again!!
