while I have the pan off, im taking off the main caps and looking at the bearings.
the front 3 main bearing caps on my 261 dont have washers. Shouldnt there be washers? - I havent looked at the rear yet.
Its a 1956 261

jay | | | | | Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 | GM parts book only shows lock washers used up to 1955 0.060 in parts book. If you remove the washers make sure the bolts do not bottom out without them.

I was trying to make sure this is the way its supposed to be. - wink. so if washers were only used up to 55, then I guess my engine doesnt use them. thanks for the info! | | |
