there is [should be] a "pan" cover on the bottom that completes the bell housing enclosure - it's frequently missing from old vehicles

These covers are different for different model 216's. Had I known that I would have avoided another wall hanger. Measure between the bolt holes on the bell housing.

The cover works both ways..... Keeps the dirt and rock out. But the mice built a nest in mine...

folks do operate without, but it really is better to have one - no repros I've ever seen, you'll need to find a used one, a post in the parts wanted might find one soon

I found mine in a old junk yard in Peru Il.Took it out of a 50 1 ton in the weeds.
