I bought a 1950 Chev 1/2ton. Where I am from, it seems like guys always put these old gems on 1/4ton frames. Would it not be just as easy to find a fullsize Chev shortbox frame which is 117"? I`m a newb at this. Is there just as much fab work either direction a guy goes? Or is the only reason to go 1/4ton is for the availability of these frames kickin around? Thanks,Darcy

What is the model number for the 1/4 ton?

What is the wheelbase of the 1/4 ton?

get out your tape measure and start hunting grin many find S10 frames most compatible, if that's what you mean by 1/4T, but there's just as much work no matter, it's not "easy" to swap the chassis regardless of what's used

I never heard tell of a 1/4 ton Chevy?? The Willys Jeep was considered a 1/4 ton.

Up here in Canada, 1/4 tons are the Chev s-10`s, Ford Rangers, etc.
The S-10 regular cab long box is 117" wheelbase.

Darcy, browse the HiPo forum, there's been lots of AD frame swap threads over the years, frame length is only one of a number of considerations, track width might be a more important one

You can modify the original frame for I.F.S., disk brakes ect.... if you want.

Darcy, as red58 stated the track width is the bigger issue, and a reason many guys don't use the full size truck frame. It depends on what finished stance and look you're after. The s-10 is an easier swap on trucks like yours.
