I've used it for some recent large projects around the house and some small projects on a truck I ended up selling soon after. But I'm wondering if anyone knows the dry/cure time, durability and comparison to such great products as ZeroRust and POR-15. Any replys, comments, or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

This Summer I'm planning the restoration process but section by section. I don't have the room to do a full dismantling. I would take the frame down and have it chemically stripped but I'll have to work with sand blasting and wire brush. That won't cut it for the real nooks and cranneys where rust never sleeps. The maintainance guys down at the harbor sware by Hammerite to 'incapsulate' the rust. Do you have any place in mind for the sand blasting? My truck is in pretty good condition considering it was hauled out of Big Bear, but I'm planning a total restore some time in the near future. The Hammerite will be used on undercarriage and engine compartment components including the 1990 Camero rearend I'm currently building to replace the original (with 3.42 posi). I'm curious as to what the harbor maintainance guys say about the durability of Hammerite is (against chips and dings, etc.) and how long the cure time is. Maybe you could find out for me? I did this about a year ago and so far it is holding up great.

It took me a little while to find it where I am, because I started my search at Auto Body Supply places but the only place I finally found it was at the Home Depot

I'm really curious about the dry/cure times and durability against chips and scratches and how it compares to ZeroRust or POR-15 (I've read that POR-15 is nearly bullet proof!)...Thanks for your replies!! -Geff- | | |
