What is the correct clutch / pressure plate for a 1960 C10 with a 235 and a 3 speed? I work a lot and sometimes have someone else work on my truck. I was having clutch issues and pulled it out only to discover what was in there isn't what i put in there 5 years ago. Originally it had a diaphragm pressure plate and now it has a coil spring pressure plate. It seems that the issue i was having was because the slave barely had enough travel to actuate the coil spring plate. The wrench that put it in even had to jerry rig an extension to the push rod just so it wouldn't fall out. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Hy HB60, the "normal" clutch for a 1/2 ton 1954 - 72 is a 10" diaphragm type, that is according to Jim Carters 1955 - 66 catalog, hope that helps.

3B,
Gave Jim Carter's a call and I keep running into the same issue. Catalog shops know what is in their catalog. Truck shop in orange has 2, 10.4" units. One with a raised diaphragm and one that is flat. It seems with out the correct on in hand i can't replace it.
they list the 10" for V-8s only and not in my year at all. Classic was even less help. If anyone out there has hands on with this combo, 235/3 speed please help. Really would like to get this back on the road.

who knows what was original, the heavy duty 3 lever clutch was a popular option then, my book shows National #614018 for the 3 lever cluch throwout bearing for 51-63 c10 w/235, and #614037 for the flat diaphram type. the 614037 is longer.

Which book you are referencing? The shop manual is thin on specifics, no surprise. I'm sure they had not intended it to be for bone heads like me. It does have an image of an 18 finger spring but again, my catalogs conflict with this. They have 10 finger assemblies. Someone out there must have a 235/3 speed. I can't be the only one that would drive a dinosaur like this!

Just checked and mine is 1.250, so it is correct for the 3 lever clutch. Parts on your shelf? I'm guessing this is more than a hobby for you?

Bob,
I have done many of them. Give me a call and we can figure out what you need. My recommended source is Friction Materials in Long Beach.
