I'm confused about mounting the T5 to the 216 housing. I have an adapter plate. Everything I read says to drill out the holes on the T5 to 1/2". But the upper holes in the 216 seem to be 7/16 threaded.

So do the upper 2 bolts thread into the bellhousing (and is so, can anyone confirm if the threading is 7/16 or 1/2 or...?)? Do the lower 2 connect with a nut inside the bellhousing? Are these 1/2"

What year is the 216. All the ones ive worked on have been 1/2 in. Yes you do need to use bolts & nuts on the lower ones.

I unfortunately have no idea what year it is.

Maybe the holes are dirty and the 7/16 is just threading the dirt.

I believe 7/16" holes are 14 threads per inch, 1/2" are 13 threads per inch.....

Let's see if we can figure this out. You have an adapter plate that will bolt to your bell housing like the tranmission normally would. The upper bolts due thread into the bell housing and I believe they are 1/2 in. The lowers were a bolt with a nut. Drilling the t5 to 1/2 inch is done becuase the holes in the case are smaller (metric). This drilling should not be done on the bell housing, only on the transmission case.

It should all bolt together with the original bolts, with the exception that they will need to be a little longer because of the thickness of the adapter plate. Hope this helps.

Tranny case is drilled out and T5 is ready to install. Now which way does this TOB go again?

Can anyone tell me how to get a socket on the top right bolt? The 1/2" head is a 3/4" socket and even the smallest I have won't fit.

Try using an allen head bolt, thats what the factory used.

Maybe a 3/4 wrench?? John
