So I tried to clean my fuel tank under the seat to no avail, I now have a black tar substance getting through the system messing up a new pump and all new lines and ruined 2 new filters so I am now thinking I will do an under bed tank and use under the seat for a scissor jack and tool carrying so in your opinions what should I be looking for as an alternate tank setup?

I met a great stovebolt member this weekend forum name Bread and I saw a tank he had at the back but I was on a dual business trip and was in a hurry and forgot the name of the tank maker he used, was at the back of the frame and looked nice but also wondering what others have done when the stock tank has failed them and they went with an alternative setup.

I am so close to driving the truck I got 4 months ago and this has set me back on moving forward.

Thanks guys!!

I purchased one from "Chevy truck parts" I think is the name, it was the largest one that I could find. 20 gallon. Fits perfect between the frame rails at the rear of the truck. I'm at work but can look it up when I get home. Unfortunatley it is setting in my storage "unused" it is not set up for fuel injection.

Skip,
Thank you for the kind words. It was great to meet you as well.

The tank I have was made by Rick's out of El Paso. Mr Hector built the tank for his '39. It worked out because I just happened to have a '39 as well.

Since your truck is a stake bed, Wayne67vert has a great set up for his truck.

Thanks for the replies! and the links smile

I was at work talking to the guys of my dilemma with the fuel system and also one of our customers was there and they know I am leaving the truck the way it looks with all its character from the years of it's life and they suggested a dune buggy tank in the wood bed and that led to another guy saying to do a beer keg and I said that would be kinda cool but it would have to be the old barrel style from back in the day not the newer looking kind and that's when my customer piped up and said hey skip I have a 40 year old keg in my garage you can have I will go home and get it, Well he came back and sure enough it was an old aluminum one and was a pot belly round style keg with the cork in the side and all.

I am going to try to make this work but if it doesn't work out I will call ricks and see if he can make me one to fit a 46 smile
